The latest news and spoilers on "Game of Thrones" season 5 hint that the female characters will get the limelight when the HBO series returns next month. Meanwhile, the red carpet premiere in San Francisco will be streamed live on the official Facebook page of the show.

"A slow-burner of a first episode (in more ways than one) threw in flashbacks, prophesies foretold and sorrows drowned to suggest that this season will be one of new alliances and the settling of old scores with the show's female characters very much to the fore," wrote Sarah Hughes for the Guardian.

In her spoiler-free article for "Game of Thrones" season 5, she wrote that the first episode also hinted of "fanaticism and fate" which will set the table for the rest of the season.

"All the elements that have made 'Game of Thrones' notorious, from copious nudity to moments of unexpected violence, were present but this was a notably confident series opener, one which mixed humour and pace to demonstrate how secure Benioff and Weiss now are in this world - and how happy they are to take risks," she added.

According to the news release from HBO, as published on Winter Is Coming, fans of "Game of Thrones" will have the opportunity to experience the red carpet even right in the comforts of their homes.

"On Monday, March 23, dozens of Game of Thrones cast members will gather at the War Memorial Opera House in San Francisco to celebrate the upcoming season and the sizzling excitement will be featured live exclusively on Facebook," the news report said.

"Fans will be able to participate in the real-time social media experience by submitting questions to the cast via Facebook (Facebook.com/GameofThrones) and Instagram (@GameofThrones), which will be answered by cast members from the red carpet from 6pm-7pm PST (9:00pm-10:00pm EST)."

"The live event, hosted by media personality Veronica Belmont and Mara Raphael from "The Daily Share" on HLN, will be streamed via the Facebook page and fans can follow along with #GoTPremiereSF," it added.

Watch out for more "Game of Thrones" season 5 news and spoilers which will be published here ahead of the airing date in April 2015.
