Five Fun Facts About EXO's D.O.
Whether you know Do Kyung So as an actor or as EXO member D.O., he's having a great year. He makes some memorable moves in the addicting new EXO MV for "Call Me Baby." And he is also considering his first leading role in the film "Pure Love."
Here are a few more facts to note about this rising star.
1. His first acting role in a film resulted in a nomination for an award. He made his acting debut in the film "Cart" and he also sang the song "Crying Out" for the OST. In the film he played a high school student whose mom fights her wrongful dismissal from a job. His performance was nominated for Best New Actor and Best Newcomer awards at the 10th Max Movie Awards and the 9th Asian Film Awards.
2. He also won an award for his first drama role. Playing the role of the character Han Kang Woo, who turned out to be Jo In Sung's delusion in "It's Okay, That's Love" earned him a Best New Actor Award at the Third APAN Star Awards and a Best Young Actor at the 16th Seoul International Youth Film Festival.
3. D.O. is his nickname but the other members of EXO usually call him by his given name. He says his real name is just easier to say.
"Truthfully," I can't get used to it," he said in an interview with Newsen.
But that does not mean the other EXO members don't occasionally tease him about it. During an Inkigayo interview Baekhyun teased him by calling him D.Orchestra.
His fans sometimes call him by another nickname that means he is "rich in white eyes" because the whites of his eyes seem bigger than his pupils.
"Anyway, if it's hard for you to distinguish us, just know that the member with a lot of eye whites is D.O.," Do said in an interview with tenasia.co.kr.
4. Do Kyung Soo was a quiet student at school. Although SM Entertainment had already recruited him, he didn't brag about it. He didn't even tell anyone.
"I just spent my high school years quietly and then I graduated," he said.
He's a quiet guy in general and has on other occasions described his personality as shy and cautious.
5. When it comes to the kind of girl he would like to date, his ideal type is someone who is mature and would be his best friend. He would even prefer it if they started out being friends and he had the chance to become comfortable with her. She should have a sense of humor, be encouraging and not too possessive.
If he does take the role in the upcoming film "Pure Love" D.O. will play young man who likes a very sick girl. The role would require him to master a regional Jellanam-do accent. But then he has excelled at everything he has done so far.
