“1 Night 2 Days” 3 Major Problems
It hasn't been a while since season 2 of "1 Night 2 Days" began to air. Slowly, the show is beginning to become less and less popular as other shows like "Running Man" and "Dad! Where Are You Going?" are becoming the most popular shows to watch.
Season 1 had a viewing rate of over 40% and received the title of being Korea's representing TV show. Lee Seung Gi became a prince with an incredible number of fans and Kang Ho Dong became one of the few most requested MCs. What's so different about season 2 that's creating such a different result?
To point out a problem from the show "Running Man", it is that the game is too repetitive. The members of the show all play each game so people at times get bored of watching the same thing over and over again. However, they found a solution to this problem by widening their scale and limiting repeats.
"1 Night 2 Days" however, all the members play the same game over and over again. If the game gets long, the reactions of the members are important so even if something isn't funny, they have to react.
People are feeling the same way about "1 Night 2 Days" as what they used to feel while watching "Running Man": Unrealistic reactions and repetitive games. They are in need of a drastic change.
Another problem is that they are lacking a clear leader. Kang Ho Dong was a great leader in season 1. He made mistakes and people criticized him but he stubbornly pulled through with Lee Soo Keun as his right arm and Lee Seung Ki acting as the good guy. All the members had different characters and nicknames.
When season 2 named Kim Seung Woo as the leader, the problems began to rise. Naturally, Lee Soo Keun began to lead as well so two people became leaders this season. It seems like it would be a better idea to put Kang Ho Dong back in season 2 but that seems to be out of the question since SBS is preparing a different show for him. If they don't make any changes, we have bad feelings for "1 Night 2 Days."
One important last issue is the real leader of season 2: the PD. Na Young Suk PD became famous for his strong preferences. Regardless of how big the guest stars are, he made everything realistic and made everything alive. There were even nights when the members bet against all the staff. When the staff lost, they all slept outside. These realistic concepts made the viewers love him.
The new PD however, is too weak. He cares about the members and the staff too much. He is unable to bring the show to life since he lets them get away with anything. He listens to their complaints and lets things go one by one.
For various reasons, the show "1 Night 2 Days" has become a show in danger of being cut. Although the expectation for it is still high, there must be a change in order to save this show.
