"You're the Best Lee Soon Shin" Will IU Pull it Off?

Will the singer IU be able to successfully transform into an actress?

IU will play the role of the main character, Lee Soon Shin, in the KBS new drama "You're the Best Lee Soon Shin" that aired its first episode today, March 9.

The character Lee Soon Shin is a typical girl in her early 20s struggling to find a job after entering the "real world." The story will be developed around Lee Soon Shin and the process of her achieving her dreams, as well as her romantic involvement with character Shin Joon Ho played by actor Jo Jung Suk.

Unlike the adorable IU that we are used to seeing on stage, she will appear in the drama as a typical girl who is nowhere near special. Even though Lee Soon Shin will appear as a typical girl with nothing special going on for her, she will get through all the hardships with a bright smile on her face.

Previously, IU appeared in "Dream High" season 1 as Kim Pil Sook. During her role on "Dream High", she wore a special chubby girl costume. IU was praised for her natural acting skills.. however, IU will have a lot on her shoulders for this 50 episode drama "You're the Best Lee Soon Shin."

Highly respected actress Ko Doo Shim stated, "I saw IU for the first time and thought her looks were comfortable and typical. Even when we first filmed, there were no issues whatsoever. It's hard to focus on an emotion when you're acting, even if you're a professional actor. IU pulled it off though. She's showing what she's got. She is an actress, no doubt."

Regarding her role, IU stated, "Other actresses appear very pretty in their roles even though the original character is not designed to be pretty. For me, I don't have any special effects like that. I'm very confident that I will be able to look pathetic just by standing." Anticipation is building up to see her performance in her role.

Meanwhile, the KBS drama "You're the Best Lee Soon Shin" is about a family struggling to overcome the tragedy of their father. With the unexpected twist of fate, each family member will work towards forgiveness and maturity through love and truth. This drama is following after KBS, "My Daughter Seo Young" and has a lot of pressure on its shoulders since it had a duty to live up to the standards of the viewers of "My Daughter Seo Young" and "You Who Rolled in Unexpectedly."
