The announcement on May 14 that Hallyu star Bae Yong Joon had plans to marry actress Park Soo Jin came as a surprise to many k-drama fans. And fans wanted to know how it happened that the two wound up as a couple.

While neither celebrity immediately offered any details, On May 20 Park Soo Jin posted some heartwarming words for her fans on her SNS account.

"I struggled for a while trying to decide what I should say to all of you. I am very grateful for everyone who congratulated me and expressed words of support following the sudden news. I've met the person that I want to spend my life with, and I intend to live happily with a grateful heart! I will drive to be worthy of all your support and blessings that you have all given me. Thank you for all your kind words. I hope all of your days are filled with love. Thank you."

No sooner did she post that statement than Bae Yong Joon commented with the word "First~," after which Park Soo Jin left two heart emoticons.

What's next for this celebrity couple?

They are planning a fall wedding but no details have yet been revealed. There has also been speculation about whether the actress will continue acting. She currently hosts the variety show "Tasty Road," which focuses on trendy restaurants in Seoul. The producers of "Tasty Road" say they have not yet discussed the possibility of her leaving. They do have several weeks of footage already.

The actress has not appeared in a drama since she played the role of Mo Seol in the 2013 drama "The Blade and Petal." She has not had a film role since 2009. Park made her debut in the girl group Sugar with Hwang Jung Eum then transitioned to acting in 2007. She appeared in the dramas "Boys Over Flowers," "My Girlfriends is a Nine-Tailed Fox," "My Husband Got A Family," and "Flower Boys Next Door."

Bae Yong Joon has appeared in over a dozen dramas, with his most recent role being a guest appearance in the 2011 drama "Dream High." He became an international star in the drama 'Winter Sonata," the drama which is said to have begun the Hallyu or Korean Wave.

Key East Entertainment represents both actors and Bae Yong Joon is a majority shareholder. Park Soo Jin signed with Key East in 2014. The couple met through work and began dating in February 2015.
