Hoya Plays A Bothersome Brother To Soo Ae In 'Mask'

Viewers who tune into the drama "Mask" will have a chance to see a whole new side to Infinite's Hoya.

In the upcoming melodrama he will play the impulsive, reckless younger brother of the main character Ji Sook, played by Soo Ae. His character Byun Ji Hyuk genuinely loves his sister but that does not stop him from making life difficult for her. The production staff for "Mask" said that he is one of the actors to watch in this drama. His performance is expected to attract positive attention.

On-set stills have been released that show him in a bank with a gun but the crew says the scene may not be what it seems. The first episode of the new SBS Wednesday-Thursday drama will reveal his reasons for toting that gun.

The rapper, singer and dancer made his acting debut in the 2012 drama "Reply 1997" as Kang Joon Hee. He then did a cameo in the drama's spin-off "Reply 1994." Hoya also appeared in the 2014 SBS drama "My Lovely Girl" with Rain, f(x)'s Krystal Jung and fellow Infinite member L. He played Jin Ho in the film "Hiya."

In the upcoming drama Soo Ae plays a woman who pretends to be the fiancée of a wealthy man because it is her only way to escape crippling debt. She will do anything to protect her secret but the irony is that her husband Min Woo, played by Ju Ji Hoon, truly loves her. He does not care who she really is and will protect her when others try to expose her identity.

The drama begins on May 27.
