When an idol stars in a drama, it's a win-win situation, attracting kdrama and kpop fans alike. That's why so many fans are looking forward to the music drama, "Monstar," which first airs on April 6.

The title is a play on the words "star" and "monster," because the drama is about a star with a monstrous temper. Yong Joon Hyung, rapper and singer with B2ST, will play Yoon Seol Chan, an idol sent back to high school because of his bad temper. Although he is temperamental, his female classmates adore him. And because he can sing, he joins a high school music club. But will his star shine brightly there or will he be just another voice?

The 12-episode cable drama was inspired by the talent audition craze and the hopes of students who aspire to be music stars.

It's hard to imagine Yong as anything but a star although it is his first try at drama acting. The rapper is best known for his singing talent and musical composition skills. Focusing on his musical career means he has not had the time to appear in dramas. But that doesn't mean he does not have acting experience or talent. He majored in acting at Anyang Arts High School and has acted, as well as danced and sang in several music videos.

According to CJ E&M producer Yoon Hyun Ki, Yong is the perfect choice for the role of the idol singer, because like his character, he composes music and lyrics. Yoon says that while it is Yong's first acting role, he will surely impress the audience with his natural talent and passion.

This drama will give Yoon the opportunity to follow the lead of fellow B2st members who have already appeared in dramas. Band mate Lee Gi Kwang has appeared in several, including "My Princess" and "High Kick Through The Roof." "Yoon Doo Joon has appeared in "A Thousand Kisses" and can now be seen in "Iris 2."

The series also stars Hen Yeon Seo as Min Se I, Lee Hae Jin as Dok Go Soon and Kim San Ho as Choi Joon Goo.

It will be directed and produced by Kim Won Seok, who directed the KBS dramas "Sungkyunkwan Scandal" and "Cinderella's Sister." The screenplay was written by Jung Yoon Jung, screenwriter for "Arang and the Magistrate." "Monstar will be Mnet's first music drama.
