Miss A's Suzy Bae has turned down the offer to star in the webtoon-based drama "Cheese In The Trap."

The actress has declined the role of Hong Seol, a cynical student who meets the seemingly perfect guy, Jung Yu. She can't quite believe he is as perfect as he seems. While Hong Seul does have a tendency to overthink things, she may be right. Jung Yu is handsome, works hard at school and has a nice personality, but he does have a manipulative side. And becoming involved with him turns her life upside down.

Actor Park Hae Jin, last seen in "Doctor Stranger" and "Bad Guys," has already been confirmed for the role of Jung Yu.

On July 13 Suzy Bae's agency, JYP Entertainment, released a statement about her decision to the Korean media outlet TV Report.

"After much deliberation, she has decided to decline the casting offer. She will continue to work hard in order to show a better image."

Bae's music schedules with her group Miss A were reported to have interfered with the shooting schedule. But there were also rumors that fans of the webtoon did not approve of Suzy playing the role of Hong Seol. The webtoon's fans have been vocal in their desire that the part be cast accurately.

The heroine's part is especially important, as she is so central to the story.

"She's pretty much where the webtoon revolves around because she's such a smart heroine, but she's also really down to Earth and has a lot of struggles with grades, family problems, and also financial problems," said a netizen named atrociouscheese.

"We are aware that a lot of people are showing interest in the casting," said a representative of the "Cheese in the Trap" production company. "We will try to complete the best cast lineup in order to live up to everyone's expectations."

Suzy Bae's last drama, "Gu Family Book," was a success. In that fantasy historical drama, she played Dam Yeo Wol, a martial arts instructor and Lee Seung Gi's love interest. She also appeared in the dramas "Big" with Gong Yoo and Lee Min Jung, and "Dream High" with co-stars Kim Soo Hyun and Ok Taec Yeon. She had a role in the film "Architecture 101" and can be seen in the 2015 film "Dorihwaga."
