Reese Witherspoon And Sofia Vergara Feuding? Fights Over 'Hot Pursuit' Box Office Turnout?

Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara were allegedly blaming each other for "Hot Pursuit's" poor performance in the box office. The two may have become inseparable while filming and promoting the film, however, things started to change when the movie turned out to be a huge flop.

According to Radar Online, Witherspoon's husband Jim Toth was put in an awkward position because he represented both his wife and Vergara. It was said that he was "desperately" trying to play the part of a peacemaker but both actresses were stubborn and kept blaming each other for the film's monetary failure. "Hot Pursuit" reportedly earned $45 million with a $35 million production budget.

"Jim is desperately trying to broker peace between them, but then they start accusing him of playing favorites! He can’t win," the source said.

Witherspoon allegedly speculated that the film failed because of Vergara's accent and "irritating laugh." On the other hand, the "Modern Family" star pointed out that Witherspoon was the one to blame, saying that she was not sexy or funny enough.

It was said that Vergara was extremely disappointed with the film's turnout since she was hoping that it could help her transform from a TV star to a movie actress. She also wanted to ask for a pay raise and was hoping to use "Hot Pursuit" as a leverage.

“Sofia has a love/hate relationship with Modern Family,” the source said.

“Its shooting schedule is long and difficult, but if she had a real movie career, she could leave. Sofia was hoping to have some kind of leverage for next season’s contract negotiations, but because 'Hot Pursuit' was such a turkey, she needs the show more than ever.”

Speaking to Extra in February, Witherspoon shared that she and Vergara developed a sisterly bond while shooting "Hot Pursuit." The actress mentioned that she was even helping Vergara prepare for her upcoming wedding to "Magic Mike XXL" star Joe Manganiello.

Witherspoon hinted that the couple is planning an extravagant wedding. She said that although they have yet to set a date, Vergara and Manganiello are excited to tie the knot as soon as possible.
