Android Wear iOS Update: Cellular Connectivity Enables SmartWatch To Send/Receive Messages, Track Fitness, Google Search And Run Apps

The latest Android wear ios update allows smartwatch owners to have more freedom in using the wearable as a "stand-alone" device. This is the result of new cellular capabilities introduced on Android wear for iOS.

In a nutshell, Google's Android Wear iOS update software comes with cellular connectivity. So, iPhone and Android smartphone users can walk around without their smartphone and still be connected. 

The product manager of Android Wear, Peter Ludwig, released the new cellular capabilities in the application for the smartwatch on Nov. 11, reported the Android Official Blog.

"Android Wear lets you stay connected, even when your phone isn't with you," Ludwig said in a statement.

"With Bluetooth and WiFi support, for example, you can see who's calling when your phone is in the next room, or respond to messages at the gym while your phone is at home."

"Today, we're bringing cellular support to Android Wear, so you can stay connected in even more places," he added.

With the new Android Wear iOS update, there is no requirement for Bluetooth or Wifi connections. When you're Android Wear is out of range for Wifi and Bluetooth connections, it will automatically kick in to cellular connection.

When you're smartwatch and smartphone are linked to a cellular network, the Android Wear may be used for Google search, sending and receiving email, using it as a fitness tracker and operate  run your favorite apps."

Some smartwatches are made to be even more compatible with their smartphones, to the extend that they calso take calls using the Android wear.

The Android Wear for iOS app was unveiled in August for the iPhone 5 and iPhone 6 Now iOS users  can take advantage of Android Wear to to obtain a host of functions like messaging, detailed information about phone calls, reported a recent eWEEK story.
