Jang Geun Suk Says Scandal Rumors Are Laughable

Over the weekend some photos were released that implicated actor Jang Geun Suk in a sex scandal but both the actor and his agency, TreeJ Entertainment, have called the photos and the scandal ridiculous.

The photos that circulated supposedly came from the phone of Chinese model and actress Lin Xi Ya. The actress claimed that her phone was hacked causing some photos and texts to be posted online, but she made no statement about the accuracy of the photos.

Since she is a celebrity, her photos naturally included other Chinese celebrities, such as Jay Chou, Zhang Han, and Peng Yu Yan, but they also supposedly featured some Korean celebrities.

Fans immediately began to speculate just who these mystery Korean celebrities might be. One Chinese newspaper reported that the photos features EXO's Kris, because Lin Xi Ya also texted someone named Kris. In another photo, it was assumed the man lying next to the actress in bed was actor Jang Geun Suk.

The actor, who starred in "Love Rain," "You're Beautiful" and is about to appear as the world's prettiest man in the drama "Pretty Man," was in China when the photo reported to include him was taken. So some saw this as a confirmation that he was really in the photo.

While the rumors spread very quickly, the actor's agency called them ridiculous. The agency promptly released a statement saying that the actor did not even know the actress.

"The rumors were too absurd to be taken seriously," said a statement by TreeJ Entertainment. "This is a complete fabrication which does not even deserve a response."

They suggested that it was a bid for publicity.

"Since Jang Geun Suk is in a new drama and there is a lot of interest in him, we think she is trying to get in on the media hype."

Jang Geun Suk treated the situation as if it were a joke. He said that the image that appeared online did include his face but that someone had merely photoshopped him into the picture. And he posted a manipulated picture of his own on his Weibo account. In the picture he posted he is in the same position but this time he is on a male friend's lap.

Netizens also found the accusation laughable. One said that the whole thing was a joke. Others accused the actress of possibly staging the whole thing as a way to get attention.
