“Glee” Star Demi Lovato Hopes Lesbian Role to Inspire Others; “X Factor” Judge Confirms Kissing Scene (Photo/Video)
“X Factor USA” judge, Demi Lovato confirms kissing Naya Rivera on “Glee” and the Latina singer expresses hopes that the experience will help inspire others.
The 21-year old singer is known to always voice out social responsibility in everything she does since her brief stint at rehab in 2010.
Her stay in a facility in Illinois, Chicago for drinking problems and bipolar personality disorder, has paved the way for the kind of person he is today - - one who has her fans and followers in mind in every endeavors she gets herself into.
As she debuted her role on “Glee,” earlier this month, Demi took a daring role as lesbian lover for Santana Lopez, played by Naya Rivera. And Demi approaches her recurring role as “Dani” in Season 5 of Glee, the same way like she has since 2011. She said in a recent interview with Latina magazine that she hopes to inspire others as lesbian lover, “Dani.”
While she ardmitted that there was indeed a kiss on the first episode of “Glee” Season 5, between her character, Dani and Naya Rivera’s Santana Lopez, Demi noted that the fans should go beyond the kiss.
"Yes, we kissed in the first episode, but I want people to pay less attention to the fact that I’m kissing a girl,” Demi began in the interview with Latina magazine, according to Entertainmentwise.com.
Being her first TV series in years and taking on a daring role such as a lesbian lover, Demi explained that the scene means a lot more than two people locking lips.
She added, "Focus on the fact that having a young, multicultural lesbian couple on prime time is a huge step in our generation. It’s showing people that it’s okay to be who you are. Don’t be ashamed of it."
