Jung Hae In and BLACKPINK Jisoo's new romance series "Snowdrop" has been receiving criticisms since its premiere. With this, broadcast network JTBC released a new statement regarding the allegations surrounding the new melodrama on December 21.

JTBC Releases Firm Statement Regarding Issues Against New Drama 'Snowdrop'

Before the drama's release, controversies surrounding Jung Hae In and BLACKPINK Jisoo's new drama blew up. With the drama's first two episodes, suspicions of historical distortion, which started in early part of 2021, rose once again. Backlash incrementally increased due to the drama's content.

Having that said, a national Blue House petition was created on December 18, asking for the drama's pull out from its broadcast after several points in the drama were criticized, including Jung Hae In's character, Su Ho, being a real spy when many were killed for being falsely accused and the usage of a symbolic song for the movement during a scene where Su Ho runs away from the National Security Planning (NSP).

Because of this, the petition has surpassed 300,000 signatures as of December 21 at 12:00 p.m. KST, far from the minimum 200,000 signatures required for the government to respond.

To control the damage, JTBC released a new statement, saying, "The background in 'Snowdrop' takes place at the time of the military regime. It contains a fictional story in collusion with the North Korean government to maintain authority."

JTBC continued to defend the drama, stating that it's a work of fiction that depicts the stories of individuals who were victimized by powerful figures. The broadcast network also denied the spy who leads the democratization movement in "Snowdrop."

"We can't reveal the sequence of the story ahead of its episodes but we are certain that the concerns regarding "history distortion" and 'undermining the democratization movement' will be settled through the progression of the drama," JTBC reassures viewers and fans.

The drama includes the production unit's clean intention of hoping for no repetition of the history, in which liberty and happiness are hindered by unjustness. JTBC concludes by saying, "We ask that you watch over the future episodes of the plot."

With that said, JTBC will continue to broadcast Jung Hae In and BLACKPINK Jisoo's much awaited drama "Snowdrop," with utmost consideration regarding the diverse voices and viewers.

'Snowdrop' Episode 3 Release Date and Where to Watch

The first two episodes of "Snowdrop" depicted the first romantic encounter of Jung Hae In and Jisoo. It also showed Jisoo's character Young Ro's caring nature after mending Su Ho's bleeding wounds despite the risk of getting caught by the dorm's head mistress.
