Struggles Lee Se Young Experienced in Preparing for Her Role in 'The Red Sleeve Cuff'

Many celebrities who have upcoming projects start their preparation by doing some diet and health routines to build the body that they need for the role. Others take months before getting their desired figure.  

While it's easy for some, there are those who struggle gaining weight, like Lee Se Young.

She recently finished her historical romance drama "The Red Sleeve Cuff." She then participated in an online interview where she shared some of her struggles while preparing for the project.

Lee Se Young is known for being petite, so the first challenge for her was to gain 7kg for her role as a court lady. During the interview, she was asked what she did to gain weight. 

She said that as an actress who is already in her thirties and starts out playing the character of an 18-year old girl, Se Young confessed that she had to stop doing things that older women usually do.

When she began filming the series, the "Kairos" star gained 3 to 4 kg, but had a hard time maintaining it due to the number of scenes and jam-packed schedules.

She revealed that after doing her best to improve her weight, she ended up losing what she had gained.

Lee Se Young's Eating Routine That Helped Her Increase Her Weight

The "Hit the Top" actress explained that if she worked hard to gain 1kg during her day off, she would end up losing 3kg at the end of the next filming sessions. As her character needed to show greater change in the drama, Lee Se young ate two slices of cheesecakes every day, after eating three big meals a day.

Even during her break, the actress eats kimbap and even puts mayonnaise on it to keep her appetite.

The "A Korean Odyssey" star added that she constantly snacked on bread during shootings and ate late night meals.

Through this, the award-winning actress was able to achieve the 7kg weight she needed for her character.
