‘Alchemy of Souls’ Episode 12: Jung So Min Encounters Dangerous Soul Shifter

'Alchemy of Souls' Episode 12: Jang Uk Learns Magic Behind Jade Crystals
In "Alchemy of Souls" episode 12, Jang Uk (Lee Jae Wook) figures out the importance of the jade crystals he and Mu Deok (Jung So Min).

When the yin and yang crystals are together, they create a powerful energy drawn from the owners. Because of this, Jang Uk becomes more determined to retrieve it from Crown Prince Go Won (Shin Seung Ho).
Jang Uk trains day and night, and drastically improves. As he prepares himself to fight the remaining two mages, an uprising takes place in the capital.

Every mage in Songrim was tasked to guard Sejukwon, the country's center for medicinal spells, except for Jang Uk.
Seo Yul Worries About Mu Deok Running Wild
With the suspicion that the mage that was killed by assassins in the capital, Park Jin (Yoo Jun Sang) and Seo Yul (Hwang Minhyun) attend the mage's funeral.
However, Jin Mu (Jo Jae Yoon) forbids them to meddle in the autopsy of the body. Thankfully, Seo Yul did a little investigating and confirmed that the man was indeed a soul shifter.

Park Jin immediately takes action as Seo Yul runs after the soul shifter. He slashes him with his sword, making the soul shifter run wild.
Jin Mu then asks his men to kill him to clear the evidence that he practices sorcery and the alchemy of souls.

It was also revealed that the Royal Queen is a soul shifter who's responsible for creating soul ejectors, a main tool to practice the alchemy of souls.
Jang Uk and Mu Deok Face the Powerful Jin Mu
Jin Mu was an old friend of Jang Uk's father, so Maidservant Kim (Oh Na Ra) sends Mu Deok on an errand.

She asks Mu Deok to deliver honey biscuits that Jin Mu loved. Jang Uk then tags along and the two of them wander around Cheonbugwan, a place where the constellations and stars were read by mages.
Naksu, who shifted into Mu Deok, was a daughter of a constellation reader mage. She loved going to Cheonbugwan and reading the stars with her father.

As they look around the place, an eunuch who was running wild after being a soul shifter for a while hides away from Jin Mu.
The two were caught and Jin Mu didn't allow them to leave easily. Jin Mu traps Jang Uk with a spell while he lets the eunuch feed off Mu Deok's energy.

Little did they know, Mu Deok is a soul shifter herself. While the eunuch tries to kill Mu Deok, the latter feeds off his energy instead, signaling that she's about to run wild as well.

Jang Uk breaks free from Jin Mu's spell and embraces Mu Deok, promising that he'll stay by her side even if he dies because of her.
