“The Walking Dead” Beats Football as Mid-Season Finale Ratings Up with 12.1 Million Viewers (Photo/Video)

“The Walking Dead” mid-season finale has recorded 12.1 million viewers Sunday, Dec. 01. The AMC’s zombie drama has continued to rise in popularity season after season, beating out its own records set in previous seasons.

According to the Entertainment Weekly, “The Walking Dead” has been very consistent in attracting more audience season after season. The hit series has recorded a steady increase in ratings in its every premieres and season finale one season after the other.

The Season 4, mid-season finale did not disappoint as it recorded 29% increase from Season 3, mid-season finale. EW noted that of these figures, an estimated 7.7 million adults 18-49 demographics tuned in to see who died and who survived.

The new number, added the news Web site has allowed “The Walking Dead” keep its record as the number one show on television among the much-coveted 18-49 demographics. EW also said that the zombie series has remained as “the highest-rated series in the history of cable television.”

A look back at the AMC’s hit series shows that it has an average of 13 million viewers and 8.4 million adults 18-49 in the first eight episodes of Season 4.

The show’s officials recognized the people behind the show as they pay tribute to the fans who continue to follow the zombie drama.

“We couldn’t be happier that audiences are continuing to respond in ever-larger numbers to the outstanding work of this amazingly talented team,” Entertainment Weekly quoted AMC’s president Charlie Collier as saying.

Collier also thanked the fans as they share the journey.

He added, “We’re only at the mid-point of this fourth season, but I know I speak for the entire cast and crew in Atlanta when I say thank you to the fans for joining in our passion for these characters and their journey.”

“The Walking Dead” returns on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014.
