Go Ara Starts 2023 With New Agency + Leaves Lee Jung Jae’s Label After 5 Years
Go Ara is starting 2023 with a major change in her career as the actress is confirmed to have signed under King Kong by Starship.
Home to various K-drama top stars like Lee Dong Wook, Lee Kwang Soo, Song Seung Heon, Yoo Yeon Seok, and more, the 32-year-old beauty will be the newest addition to the talent label.
According to local media outlet, King Kong by Starship announced Go Ara's recent move to their agency.
Go Ara Joins King Kong by Starship
King Kong by Starship CEO Lee Jin Seong made the surprising confirmation revealing that the "Hwarang" actress has signed an exclusive contract with them.
Praising the actress, the CEO described Go Ara as "a great actress who has not only a passion for acting but also a versatile charm."
The news comes after the 32-year-old star has decided not to renew her contract with Lee Jung Jae and Jung Woo Sung's agency, Artists Company after being with them for 5 years.
To recall, Go Ara has been with Artist Company since 2017 after leaving her longtime agency, SM Entertainment in 2016.
At the time, OSEN broke news and said that the actress will become a free agent for the time being after her contract expired with the label.
As for SM Entertainment at the time, the agency said that "the exclusive contract with Go Ara has expired."
Go Ara's Journey to Stardom: From SM Entertainment Teen Model Winner to K-drama Top Star
Debuting in 2003 after winning the SM Entertainment Teen Model contest, Go Ara starred in her first-ever K-drama "Sharp 1."
She is among the lead stars of the youth-oriented series along with Yoo Ah In and Seo Hyun Suk.
It was then followed by the sequel "Sharp 2" two years later with Kim Bum.

From then on, she continued to star in various series playing main characters and was predicted to be among the successful actress of her generation.
True enough, Go Ara landed her breakthrough series that skyrocketed her popularity.
She become among the main characters of the popular "Reply" series directed by Shin Won Ho.
The popularity of "Reply 1994" showed how versatile and amazing actress Go Ara is as she stars with Jung Woo and former labelmate Yoo Yeon Seok.
Interestingly, she also appeared in another hit K-drama "Hwarang" together with Park Seo Joon and Park Hyung Sik.
As for Go Ara's latest K-drama appearance, it was the 2020 rom-com series "Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol" where she took the role of a naive rich girl named Goo Ra Ra who dreams of becoming a great pianist.
She is joined by Lee Jae Wook and Kim Joo Heon as the lead star.
In that same year, she is reunited with Yoo Yeon Seok as she played a cameo in the blockbuster series "Hospital Playlist."
What's Next for Go Ara?
After seven tears, Go Ara will return to the big screen with a highly anticipated movie with Kim Seon Ho.
The duo will star in the action drama film "Sad Tropical" along with Kim Kang Woo and rookie actor Kang Tae Joo.
