Lee Je Hoon details his experience and what to expect in the much-awaited return of the Rainbow Taxi team in "Taxi Driver 2."

With almost two years since the action-crime drama concluded the first season, viewers will get to see more of the beloved anti-hero Kim Do Ki and the rest of the group.

"Taxi Driver" season 2, helmed by Lee Dan and penned by the season 1 and "Fabricated City" screenwriter Oh Sang So, depicts the story of a secret organization that avenges victims whom the law wasn't able to protect.

Based on the webtoon of the same name, the action-crime series also showcases the protagonist, Kim Do Ki, played by Lee Je Hoon, who uses a disguise to perform his mission.

As for the second season, several characters reprise their roles along with new actors joining the K-drama.

One of the most-watched K-dramas of 2021, the SBS weekend series wrapped up the season with a double-digit rating and garnered an all-time high for the entire season run.

In addition, "Taxi Driver" also gained fame after it aired on Netflix.

However, lead star Lee Je Hoon admitted that he didn't think that the series will return for another season.

In an interview with a local media outlet, the actor said that he "didn't expect it at all" before adding his realizations during the broadcast of the SBS series.

"As the drama aired every episode, I thought that there are many really bad people in the world who need to be punished, and there are many incidents and accidents that we need to know about," he said and through "Taxi Driver" the show "can deliver messages to people" and at the same time entertain them with the story.

However, upon season 2 getting the green light, Lee Je Hoon said they are thrilled "to be able to meet the viewers again" and felt honored to reprise his role as Kim Do Ki.

Moreover, he also promised to "work hard to show" viewers a better image than he did in season 1.

Lee Je Hoon Talks About Wang Tao Zi

In season 1, Kim Do Ki disguised himself as Wang Tao Zi, a Chinese businessman who swooned the female gangster Madame Lim in episode 9.

Viewers enjoyed the hilarious chemistry between the two, especially how Lee Je Hoon portrayed the character.

As the interview for "Taxi Driver 2" continued, the lead star hinted at Wang Tao Zi's return in the sequel.

​​"At the time of Season 1, the character that was mentioned the most by viewers was probably Wang Tao Zi, so please look forward to seeing it again," he said.

To recall, Shim So Young played the role of the ruthless mafia boss Lim Bok Ja, whom his men referred to as Madame Lim. 

Interestingly, SBS revealed the script reading for season 2, featuring the actress, with viewers looking forward to the duo's hilarious chemistry.
