Lee Sung Min Shares Surprising Revelation About Car Crash, Delirium Scenes in ‘Reborn Rich’

Lee Sung Min dishes on his experience filming "Reborn Rich," especially the most talked-about the episode when he and Song Joong Ki were in a car crash as well as the delirium scene.

Moreover, the veteran actor talks about the highlight of his marriage and having a daughter.

The 54-year-old actor gained the viewers' attention after landing the role of Jin Yang Chul in "Reborn Rich."

In the hit JTBC series, Lee Sung Min's character is the founder of one of Korea's leading conglomerates, Sunyang Group. He is also Song Joong Ki's grandfather as the Hallyu star plays the third-generation chaebol, Jin Do Joon.

During the drama's broadcast, viewers are hooked on the story, especially the connection between Jin Yang Chil and Jin Do Joon.

Lee Sung Min also received massive praise for his amazing portrayal of the Sunyang founder.

During his guest appearance in "You Quiz on the Block," the veteran actor spoke about two particular scenes in "Reborn Rich."

When asked by Yoo Jae Suk if he predicted "Reborn Rich's" huge success, the veteran actor said that he didn't expect the reaction of the viewers. However, his main focus was to perfectly play the character who is much older than he is.

The host also brought up the iconic car scene and when Jin Yang Chul had delirium. Lee Sung Min then revealed he was filming another project at the time he is set to shoot the delirium scene.

As for the car crash scene, the actor said that CGI helped them enhance the scene to make it believable.

"The car accident scene was actually filmed with the car parked and was retouched using CG. Song Joong Ki and I just shook our bodies back and forth and glass pieces were thrown at us," he said.

To recall, the said scene was when Chairman Jin Yang Chul is set to announce that his grandson, Jin Do Joon, will run one of the conglomerate's biggest departments. However, one of their family members planned their assassination.

Jin Yang Chul was able to survive the car crash, but encountered a major health problem after being diagnosed with delirium.

He might be one of South Korea's top stars but Lee Sung Min had his fair share of struggles during the early stage of his career and marriage.

He revealed that his wife was the first one who asked him out on a date, adding that he was very "thankful how she pulled through for 10 years" until they were able to live decently.

Lee Sung Min also talked about the struggles of pursuing his acting career and at the same time building his own family.

"We couldn't afford to go on a honeymoon, so we got married in Daegu and went to Gyeongju for our honeymoon," he said, adding that they had their child during their honeymoon.

"But we couldn't afford to be happy," he said. He also revealed that they had no money.

"Even though we could endure the difficulties, we couldn't make the child suffer," Lee Sung Min furthered, expressing his disappointment at the time.

Now, he is among the respected actors in both K-dramas and movies, and also set to star in multiple projects this 2023.
