Kim Hee Ae gets honest as she spoke about her expectations and experience for her K-drama comeback as she stars in "QueenMaker" with Moon So Ri.

The two award-winning stars headline the upcoming Netflix series that focuses on women empowerment and politics. During the press conference, ahead of the much-awaited premiere on April 14, the two top actresses graced the event along with "QueenMaker" director Oh Jin Suk and co-stars Ryu Soo Young and Seo Yi Sook.

The lead stars spoke about what drew them to accept the offer, and play characters with strong personalities.

As obtained by a news portal, Kim Hee Ae shared that most K-dramas and movies revolve around male leads with dominating personalities. She admitted that she feels "envious" of playing that kind of role.

However, the upcoming series depicts a different perspective of a woman.

"Just being able to lead the center in a female narrative is something to be thankful for as an actor," she said, adding that her character's "cleverness" and assertiveness prevented her from letting go of the script.

In "QueenMaker," Kim Hee Ae plays Hwang Do Hee, one of the top-notch leaders in the President Identity (PI) consulting. Moreover, she is Eunsung Group's Corporate Strategy team leader known for her remarkable performance.

However, she was intrigued by Oh Kyung Sook, played by Moon So Ri. The self-proclaimed Korean Lady of Justice is a labor rights lawyer, who is dubbed as the "crazy rhinoceros" for her determination and eagerness to protect common people and workers.

With one mission, Hwang Do Hee offered Oh Kyung Sook to be her election campaign manager as she runs to be the next mayor of Seoul.

For Moon So Ri, she decided to join "QueenMaker" for its unique take on the female-centric K-drama.

Describing the structure of the plot as "rare," the actress shared that there might be a number of series that revolves around female leads but not a character like Oh Kyung Sook.

"There have been many dramas, but I wonder if there was a character like this. I felt a sense of responsibility to solve it," she said, adding that she was glad upon receiving the offer.

At the "QueenMaker" press conference, Kim Hee Ae praised her co-star Moon So Ri for her exceptional acting. The actress pointed out that the award-winning star perfectly portrayed the character and was fit to play Oh Kyung Sook.

"Moon So Ri is really good at acting and has her own world that cannot be touched," she said, adding that Oh Kyung Sook's character is comical that perfectly fits Moon So Ri's persona.

The powerful team-up between Moon So Ri and Kim Hee Ae raised expectations among the viewers especially how their previous works became a huge hit.

While "QueenMaker" is her K-drama comeback after three years, Kim Hee Ae admitted that she feels pressure with the popularity of her previous work.

"It was a burden because JTBC's "'The World of the Married" was so loved," she said. "Isn't there originally a saying? The most interesting work was the one I watched without expectation, and the one I watched with expectation."

The actress also confessed that she is "worried" every time she says, "Please look forward to it," referring to her return to the small screen, but hoped that viewers would love and support "QueenMaker" like "The World of the Married."
