‘QueenMaker’ Season 2: Will Kim Hee Ae Return as the Legendary Hwang Do Hee?

Viewers witnessed a unique story of "womance" as Netflix introduced Kim Hee Ae and Moon So Ri's team-up in "QueenMaker."

Helmed by Oh Jin Suk of "My First Love" and penned by Moon Ji Young of "Who Are You?" the 11-part episode K-drama showcased the drama, chaos, and intense action in the male-dominated world of politics.

'QueenMaker' Season 1 Highlights

Released on April 14, the public was hooked with the twists and turns of "QueenMaker" as Kim Hee Ae delivered a perfect portrayal of Hwang Do Hee, the Eunsung Group's "fixer" and head of the conglomerate's corporate strategy.

Her character is basically the point person responsible for the image of the family. 

"QueenMaker" also illustrates an interesting character through Moon So Ri's role as the eccentric human rights lawyer Oh Kyung Sook. 

After discovering the dark secret of the EunSung family, Hwang Do Hee turned her back on them and promised to turn things right with the help of Oh Kyung Sook, by transforming her into Seoul's first female mayor. 

Besides lead stars Kim Hee Ae and Moon So Ri, the "QueenMaker" cast also featured a roster of amazing stars, including villain Ryu Soo Young as the mayoral candidate 

Baek Jae Min and Seo Yi Sook as EunSung chairman, Son Young Shim.

Moreover, scene stealers Jin Kyung, who took on the role of mayoral candidate and "people's servant" Seo Min Jung, as well as the EunSung heiress Eun Chae Ryung, played by Kim Sae Byeok, garnered the public's attention for their exceptional acting.

Due to its unique story and amazing cast lineup, there's no doubt why "QueenMaker" immediately entered Netflix's top 10 TV shows and landed fifth just two days after the series premiered. 

The 11-part political K-drama also topped in seven countries, including Vietnam, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, and more. 

Adding to the list of the show's achievements, "QueenMaker" is also the most watched non-English show on Netflix for the third week of April, after garnering more than  15 million total hours viewed in just three days after its release, as cited by a news portal. 

Moreover, the series also has a 7.8 rating out of 10 on IMDb and an 89 percent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. 

Will There Be 'QueenMaker' Season 2? Here's What We Know So Far

Exactly a week since "QueenMaker" released 11 episodes featuring how legendary the team-up between Hwang Do Hee and Oh Kyung Sook is, viewers are looking forward to Netflix's announcement regarding the possible sequel. 

To recall, "QueenMaker" left an open ending after episode 11, which featured Hwang Do Hee having a surprise visit from the prison and asked if she could help her. 

The mysterious man asked Do Hee if she was the one who got Oh Kyung Sook to become mayor, to which she modestly admitted, with the last scene illustrating Hwang Do Hee's determined expression.

The last scene is a clear indicator that Hwang Do Hee might return with another mission, but as of this writing, Netflix and the drama executives have yet to confirm if "QueenMaker" will return with season 2.
