Director Park Hoon Jung expressed satisfaction with how "The Childe" turned out, especially with Kim Seon Ho as the lead star.

During his interview with the media outlet, the filmmaker, who is also the genius behind "V.I.P.," "The Witch" series, and "Night in Paradise," continued to share the struggles and challenges they faced filming the movie.

'The Childe' Director Says He Was 'Right' for Casting Kim Seon Ho

As mentioned by SBS Star, Director Park Hoon Jung gets honest and says that he initially had doubts whether "The Childe" would be released on the target date.

"When we were filming, I doubted whether this movie would be released on time," he said, adding, "And now that it's out, it feels a little different from my previous works."

To recall, the team started filming the movie in 2021; however, during the production, lead star Kim Seon Ho got involved in a major controversy that almost ruined his career.

At the time, the South Korean hearthrob was facing allegations regarding issues concerning his ex-girlfriend.

Thankfully, he managed to clear his name and slowly get back to his on-screen activities.

Despite the scandal and brands dropping Kim Seon Ho from their endorsements, director Park Hoon Jung was glad he stuck with the actor.

He admitted that he had hesitation about continuing him as the lead star, and the director said that there's no other actor who could play the character but Kim Seon Ho.

"I took my time when casting actors. I don't think about certain actors when I'm writing scripts. I seek the right ones after finishing them," he explained, adding, "So it's a long, careful process, and being this way prevents me from considering other actors than the one I initially thought of."

"So I decided to be the one who uses this new side of him," he said, and expressed how "confident" he is that the actor would nail the character.

"I was confident that I was right about him after seeing how good he was in the film. He's an actor with good energy," he said.

Park Hoon Jung also mentioned that despite Kim Seon Ho starring in his first ever movie, he described him as a "great" actor for showing "competent" work.

Besides the South Korean hearthrob, "The Childe" cast also includes newcomer Kang Tae Joo, along with Go Ah Ra and Kim Kang Woo.

The movie officially hit the big screen on June 21 and is still available in theaters.
