Dex Opens Up About Rookie Award Pressure: 'I thought I was going to die'

In a recent YouTube video titled 'OFF, DEX's third glass, kimchi pancake and makgeolli on a rainy day after receiving the rookie award,' Dex, the winner of the Rookie Award at the 2023 MBC Entertainment Awards, opened up about his experiences, challenges, and future plans.

Reflecting on the Journey 

In the video released on January 15, Dex took a reflective approach, starting with his acceptance speech at the MBC Entertainment Awards.

The entertainer acknowledged his agency's team leader and shared a humorous moment when the leader's acquaintances questioned his apparent weight loss, to which Dex responded, "With our love and hate for a year."

MC Debut Chronicles: Nerves, Mistakes, and a Blurry Teleprompter 

Opening up about his nerves during the event, Dex admitted, "It's my first time as an MC, and I thought I was going to die."

He expressed disappointment in making mistakes during the live show, attributing them to nervousness.

Dex humorously revealed that the teleprompter, clear during rehearsals, appeared blurry when he went live, contributing to his slurred speech.

Contrary to expectations, Dex confessed, "To be honest, I wasn't really looking forward to winning the Rookie of the Year award. I somehow felt pressured."

The team leader added, "Even if I'm not greedy myself, I can't help but be greedy when I'm working in the field. In a way, it's like a report card."

Relieved, Dex expressed, "I'm glad that 23 years ended well," and hinted at a desire for more public recognition.

He stated, "I think it's time to make my face known a lot."

Fortune Teller's Insight Guides Dex's Path to 2024 

The video took an interesting turn when Dex revealed consulting a fortune teller about his future plans.

He shared, "They say '24 is the time when my character is decided. That's why I told them to try all kinds of things in '24.

In '23, I did a lot of entertainment. In '24, I tried to try acting."

Dex expressed gratitude towards his company for not exploiting his popularity indiscriminately.

He remarked, "If I were the CEO, I think they would have ripped off my name. I could have done it by force, but I didn't do it, and if I had done that, I wouldn't have stayed quiet either."
