Kim Dahyun, a famous K-pop idol and a member of girl group TWICE, has made a public statement about her reaction to horrific fake news regarding her father's death.

On September 14, during her appearance on JTBC's Knowing Bros, the idol reported that people informed her that her father, Kim Bong-gon, a widely known Cheonghakdong "tiger general," had passed away due to a traffic accident.

The 15-year-old idol said it caused shock and made her break into tears because, at the time, she could not contact her father by phone. "It's terrifying how such fake news can spread so quickly," Kim Dahyun said.

"The video has already amassed over a million views, and despite my efforts to report it, it remains online. It's affecting not just me but also my fans. Genuine elderly fans who are affected, as well.

The news appeared to be fake, and it is another example of the negative consequences associated with the prevalence of inaccurate information online.

Kim Dahyun also reported related rumors regarding the family's financial security. Her father became famous for his professional work as a traditional Korean martial arts practitioner. According to his father's interview, he stated that he was several million dollars in debt for the purchased land.

However, Kim Dahyun clarified that her father paid out the debts and is now free from financial troubles. The idol emphasized the importance of being cautious in circulating and believing lies. It can have severe impact on families and even cause panic among the youth and especially the old people who have been her fans for a long time.

Kim Dahyun has gained recognition through her performances on TV Chosun's "Miss Trot 2" and MBN's "Current Song King," where she secured third place. She also earned the MVP title in MBN's "Korean-Japanese Song King Competition.
