Gina Carano News 2014: Ultimate Fighting Championship President Dana White released some really good news for UFC fans in his recent interview. White publicized that mixed martial artist-turned-actress Gina Carano fighting in the UFC is close to becoming a reality according to International Business Times.

"Holly Holm and Gina Carano are all a matter of getting a deal done," he said.

According to Yahoo Sports, 'one of the biggest fights in UFC history could be made later this year, if Gina Carano returns to mixed martial arts and is given a title shot against bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey.'

'A Rousey-Carano fight is one of the few bouts the UFC could make now that is a given to surpass 1 million pay-per-view sales. It would be a massive event with the type of media coverage the UFC has never previously received,' the report stated.

Since her loss to Cris "Cyborg" Justino (then known as Cris Santos) on Aug. 15, 2009, Carano has never fought again. Yet, in Yahoo's 2013 Year in Review, she was 10th on its list of the 10 most searched athletes of the year.

According to the list published on December 3, Carano has not fought in 1, 573 days and she was on a list of athletes that involved Rousey, Tim Tebow, Tiger Woods and Serena Williams, among others. Even Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, LeBron James or Kobe Bryant is not in the list. Carano came out ahead of Derek Jeter and Mike Trout, Floyd Mayweather and Anderson Silva, Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin.

According to Yahoo Sports, 'the UFC acquired Carano's fighting contract when it purchased Strikeforce in 2011.

Carano's return would captivate the MMA world in a way that hasn't happened since perhaps the debut of Rousey in 2013 or of Brock Lesnar in 2008.'

Carano said, "I dream about [fighting. I just didn't know if I was ever going to get placed with the opportunity to make a comeback. So I'm either going to do it now or retire and say, 'I'm never going to do it.'"

Her coming back would be a benefit for MMA, but from now until the time she announces her decision, Carano is going to dominate the MMA headlines.

Carano hasn't fought professionally in the last six years. Carano's last fight was with Cristiane "Cyborg" Justino in August 2009, where she suffered the first-ever defeat in her MMA career. She recently told Gastown Gazette that she was 'completely broken" when she lost her first MMA fight. Since then, Carano stopped competing professionally reports say.
