In an announcement from the talk show's official Twitter account, rumors about Rosie O'Donnel's "The View" return was finally confirmed.
According to a CNN report, Rosie O'Donnel returning to "The View" will happen this fall. The comedienne is one of the most famous co-hosts from the talk show's history.
Rosie O'Donnell "The View" return is highly anticipated by fans who followed her hosting stint during the show's 10th season in 2006-2007.
Reconstruction
The comeback is said to be part of the show's "reconstruction." ABC earlier reported that of all of the current co-hosts, Whoopi Goldberg would be the only one who would still be part of this coming season. Barbara Walters left the show last May and was followed by news that Jenny McCarthy and Sherri Shepherd will be leaving the show this summer.
News about Rosie O'Donnell's "The View" return has revived the comedienne's controversial on-air feuds with former co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck. The two have battled over topics like the Iraq war, and in a report by The Los Angeles Times was said to have "changed the usual cheery climate of the show" and made "The View" sometimes "tough to watch".
O'Donnell left "The View" after just nine months.
Two more co-hosting slots still need to be filled to complete "The View" table. Rumors have been circulating that a male co-host might be added-a first for the talk show.
Donald Trump Jumps In
O'Donnell has been engaged in a long-running word war with billionaire Donald Trump, so much so that when "The Apprentice" star learned of Rosie O'Donnell's "The View" return, he was quick to announce exactly how he felt about it.
Trump tweeted early Friday to his 2.6 million followers: "Rosie is crude, rude, obnoxious and dumb - other than that I like her very much!". Trump also said: ""Rosie is back on the View which tells you how desperate they must be. It is the standard short term fix and long term disaster".
