In the wake of the Malaysian Airlines MH17 disaster, Europeans and the U.S. have been taking a tough stand on Russia after learning that pro Russian rebels may have attacked the airline with 298 people on board with a surface to air missile. The Russians are believed to have supplied the missiles to the rebels. Russia, however, has denies the allegations.

The Malaysian Airline MH17 was shot down at the Ukraine-Russian border, and the incident has serious consequences for Russia, led by Putin who is defiant to show his strength against the West. Early in the week, Russia announced that it doesn't plan to make it difficult for foreign countries to do business in Russia.

However all bets are off now that Russia's waistline needs another look at it waist line. Russian watchdog Rospotrebnadzor has filed litigation against U.S. firm McDonald's. The Russian consumer agency said that McDonald's operates under poor sanitary conditions and that it is deceiving consumers with nutritional data that is false, said Reuters.

The McDonald's Filet o-Fish,chicken burger, cheeseburger and Royale burger presumably contains 2x or 3x more calories while milkshakes and other ice creams contain twice as much fat, protein and carbs as the labels say.

Russia’s chief sanitary inspector Anna Popova, “We have identified violations which put the product quality and safety of the entire McDonald’s chain in doubt." The food health report also claimed that McDonald's menu including the Caesar Rolls and Vegetable Salad contains bacteria, such as E.coli.

On the whole, McDonald's in Russia under the inspection of the agency included 11 violations of Russian law, entailing a fine of $2000. Meanwhile, the U.S. and the European Union are in talks about curbing Russia's international power and in Ukraine. The war zone at the Russia-Ukraine had been given a green signal for commercial planes like Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17. Russia will need to explain why the plane was shot down.
