‘The Mindy Project’ Season 3 Spoilers: ‘Scandal’ Creator Makes TV Debut; Dr. Lahiri Faces ‘Work Nemesis’

"The Mindy Project" season 3 spoilers reveal that the "Scandal" creator Shonda Rhimes will make her TV debut on the show, as Dr. Lahiri will face a work nemesis.

In TVLine's "The Mindy Project" season 3 spoilers, the influential creator of "Grey's Anatomy" and "How to Get Away With Murder" will make a guest appearance on the show in fall.

"I'm told Rhimes, a self-proclaimed super-fan of both 'The Mindy Project' and its star Mindy Kaling, will play herself on the show. Specifics about her storyline are being kept under wraps," Michael Ausiello wrote.

Shonda Rhimes confirmed "The Mindy Project" season 3 spoilers in her Twitter when she wrote: "Shh. Nobody tell @mindykaling that I can neither act nor appear lifelike on camera. NO ONE STOP THIS FROM HAPPENING! #dreamsDOcometrue."

Mindy Kaling, meanwhile, is excited to be playing against veteran comedian Niecy Nash of "Reno 911."

The TVLine earlier reported "The Mindy Project" season 3 spoilers as it described Dr. Jean Fishman's character as a lesbian and "a tough Bostonian physician who is the new chief of Shulman & Associates' admitting hospital. A take-no-prisoners type who puts up with no nonsense whatsoever."

She took to Twitter after being told of the cast addition: "So psyched the hilarious @NiecyNash will be coming to play Shulman & Associates work nemesis on #themindyproject!"

The 35-year-old actress dished out more "The Mindy Project" season 3 spoilers to Zap2it when she said that one of her ex-boyfriends will return in episode 2, but also another addition to the show who could become a thorn on her side.

"We're very close to making an announcement about a very cool guest star who's going to recur on the show to play Danny's mom," she said, the character will be "someone who's a source of conflict for my character."
