Which phablets is worth the purchase? We compare the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Nokia Lumia 1520 to see which device is better.

For design and display, the Nokia Lumia 1520 is larger than its rival, and it’s 33 grams heavier, weighting 209 grams. The Samsug Galaxy Note 4 has faux leather back with the metal trim bezel. However, the Note 4 has more features to offer, such as a fingerprint sensor, the popular S Pen stylus, an IR blaster and a heart rate monitor.

The Samsung pahblet has 5.7inches Super AMOLED display that will offer a big amount of details and reproduces colors successfully thanks to the 1440x2560 pixel resolution and 515ppi. The Nokia phablet has a larger display of 6 inches, which is an IPS LCD with 1080x1920 pixels and 368ppi. This display offers a better viewing experience outdoors, being capable of achieving a brightness output of 707 nits, compared to Note’s 468 nits.

In terms of hardware, the Nokia Lumia 1520 is equipped with a powerful 2.2GHz quad core Krait 400 processor which is very responsive in combination with a Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 chipset and Adreno 330 graphics. The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 has a quad core Krait 450 processor with a clock speed of 2.7GHz which outperforms Lumia 1520’s CPU. The Samsung phablet also uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset and improved Adreno 420 graphics.The Lumia 1520 has either 16GB or 32GB of internal storage, expandable up to 64GB and runs on Microsoft Windows Phone 8 (upgradeable to v8.1) with 2GB of RAM. The Note 4 has 3GB of RAM, a built in memory of 32GB and the possibility to expand it up to 128GB.

In terms of battery and camera specs, both phablets have gigantic batteries, but the Nokia Lumia 1520 hosts even a bigger battery of 3400mAh, which is non-removable and lasts 25 hours when talking on 3G. The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 comes with a 3220 mAh battery with 4hours less lifespan.

Both devices have incredible cameras with lots of pixel. A 20MP PureView camera for the Lumia 1520 with Carl Zeiss optics, optical image stabilization, f/2.4 aperture lens, a 1/2.5” sensor, dual_LED flash etc. A 16MP camera is on the Note 4 with a 1/2.6” sensor and an f/2.0 aperture lens, LED flash, optical image stabilization and the same 4K video recording capability.

The Nokia device offers lots of camera options such as shutter speed, focus, ISO, white balance, exposure etc. However, the pictures taken Note 4’s camera are sharper outdoors, with less noise and they’re brighter.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 cost $835, while the Nokia Lumia 1520 costs $467.
