Kim Jung Eun is back. Almost three years have elapsed since her last Dramaland appearance, when she played the wife in "Ohlala Couple."

The actress recently agreed to play a leading role in a quirky weekend drama titled "Let The Girl Cry."

According to her agency, Will Entertainment, Kim Jung Eun will play Duk In, an ex-detective in the MBC drama. Kim took a three-year break from the small screen but it has been seven years since she appeared in an MBC production. Her last role for MBC was in "General Hospital 2."

It was MBC that helped launch Kim's career, as the actress was discovered through the broadcasting company's 25th Open Competition For Actors. Kim Jung Eun's acting career officially began in 1995 when she appeared in the film "My Old Sweetheart." She has been called "the queen of romance" because of her success in romantic comedies such as "Lovers in Paris." Some of her best-known dramas are "Sunflower " and "I Am Legend." She also appeared in the several films, including = "Glory of the Family," Close to You," "Forever The Moment" and "How To Keep My Love."

In the upcoming drama "Let The Girl Cry," Kim Jung Eun plays a broken woman. Her character Duk In was a tough detective in the serious crime unit before she lost her son. Overwhelmed by grief, she quit her job on the police force. Now Duk In does what she can to keep her son's memory alive. She runs a snack shop in a location that evokes memories of her son. She has to solve the mystery of his death before she can move on. Forgiveness and healing can only come after the case is officially closed.

But the plot of this drama will be about more than solving crimes and the stages of grief. There's an upside to the story.

The location of Duk In's shop means she interacts with plenty of children on a daily basis. And she feels inclined to help them. In the process of helping and protecting those children, Duk In becomes an unlikely local hero.

Ha Chung Ok, the writer behind the drama "I Summon You Gold" wrote the screenplay for "Let The Girl Cry." Kim Geun Hong, who directed the historical drama "Guam Heo Jin," is the director on the project.

"Let The Girl Cry" will air after the end of "Rosy Lovers."
