AirAsia 8501 Latest Recovery News: Co-Pilot's Body Retrieved; 72 Of 100 Bodies Identified While Airline Suffers Impact Of Ill-Fated Crash

More bodies have been recovered from the latest AirAsia QZ flight 8501 evacuation efforts. New reports claimed that one of the bodies recently retrieved was that of either the pilot or the co-pilot still strapped to the cockpit seat.

Bambang Soelistyo, Indonesian national search agency chief, said that his team had retrieved "one of the two pilots" from the AirAsia Airbus A320. Later, the body was idntified as that of the French co-pilot, who was in control of the flight from take-off at Surabaya en route to Singapore Dec. 28.

"The body was found in the cockpit about 20 meters from the aircraft's fuselage, which is sitting in about 100 feet of water. Officials added that the cockpit was badly damaged without adding any further details," the search agency's report said.

According to police, 100 bodies have been recovered and 72 of them have been identiied. The remaining victims are also in the process of being identified, shared CNN.

VC Post reported the investigators of the AirAsia flight shared that the airplane's computer functions had faile.  And instead of resetting the circuit breaker behind the co-pilot, the pilot decided to disconnect the computer from the rest of the system.

AirAsia's tragic flight QZ 8501 has had a huge impact on the future of the budget carrier. Social media was abuzz about the Malaysian airline's safety in the wake of the aviation mishap.

One AirAsia plane reportedly overhot the runway in Philippines while another returned to Malaysia after one of its parts failed. CEO Tony Fernandez tried to reassure customers it was a routine procedure, but the passengers said they would sue AirAsia for the inconvenience caused.
