Oscar Winner Cate Blanchett has been chosen to play Hollywood legend Lucille Ball in an authorized biopic written by Aaron Sorkin.

The movie would depict Lucille's 20-year marriage to Desi Arnaz, according to The Wrap. Desi and Lucille had also starred on a classic TV sitcom "I Love Lucy." Ball had two children with Desi before they divorced in 1960. The following year, she married Gary Morton.

Lucille and Desi's children Lucy Arnaz and Desi Arnaz Jr. would be producing the film, according to Vulture.  Reporters told that Escape artist's executive Jenna Block had been left in charge to oversee the development of the project on behalf on the Sony-based company.

Last year, Aaron Sorkin was the one who had remarked Oscar winner Cate Blanchett's performance as "nothing close to degree of difficulty" in comparison to any of the nominated male lead performances of that year, reported The Daily Beast.

"That's why year in and year out, the guy who wins the Oscar for Best Actor has a much higher bar to clear than the woman who wins Best Actress," Aaron wrote in his response to Dowd's column titled "Frozen in a Niche."  He added, "Cate gave a terrific performance in Blue Jasmine but nothing close to the degree of difficulty for any of the five Best Actor nominees."

Oscar Winner Cate Blanchett is surprised by the epic roles that she is asked to play. She said it was an honor to work with greats like Woody Allen in "Blue Jasmin." Her representation of Katherine Hepburn is reflective of the serious roles Blanchett has been selected for. And Lucill Ball would be another great pick for her repertoire. Cate had won an Academy award for playing Katharine Hepburn in Martin Scorsese's "The Aviator."

Now, Blanchett's preparing for another Oscar run for her acclaimed performance in Todd Haynes' lesbian drama, "Carol." Blanchett would also be starring opposite Robert Redford, Elizabeth Moss and Topher Grace in a news drama entitled "Truth."

Oscar Winner and acclaimed actress Cate Blanchett would be lending her voice to Andy Serkin's "Jungle Book: Origin Films," which stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Christian Bale. Also, she would reteam with Christian in Terrence Malick's upcoming film.
