The 13th New York Korean Film Festival Teases Stellar Lineup

On October 13, the New York-based cultural organization, The Korean Society, published the first teaser information for the 13th New York Korean Film Festival.

Go Ah Sung is included on the list of talented artists who have been invited to appear at the festival. The 23-year-old actress experienced her breakout film role as Park Hyun Seo in the Bong Joon Ho-directed science fiction piece de resistance, "The Host." She rejoined the prestigious auteur to portray Yona in the dystopian thriller, "Snowpiercer." In 2015, she garnered positive attention as Seo Bom, an 18-year-old student-turned-mother in the social commentary drama, "Heard from the Grapevine," before returning to the silver screen in "Office." 

Other invitees include talented director Ryoo Seung Wan, who was recently responsible for the hit crime noir, "Veteran." The renown auteur is highly regarded for his contribution to groundbreaking Korean cinema, with credits ranging from "Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance to "The Berlin File."

"Veteran" producers Kang Hye Jung and Park Jung are also included on the list of artists whose presence has been requested for the event. 

High-profile auteurs are emphasized in the programming, as noted by the requested presence of "Madonna" director Shin Shuwon and Kang Hyo Jin, the director of "Wonderful Nightmare." 

The upcoming event will showcase a myriad of genres, ranging from modern-day crime thrillers to period flicks focused on the resistance of occupied Korea.  

The New York Korean Film Festival will be held from November 6 through 11. Stay tuned for more details about the lineup and schedule.
