In kdramas, singing off key at a noraebang or with a karaoke machine at home is often a great way to break the ice or to let off steam. There are so many wonderful karaoke scenes that it's hard to narrow them down to just a few. Here are some favorites.

The most heartbreaking karaoke scene award goes to Park Yoo Chun in "Missing You." The detective he plays uses karaoke to help him forget his lost true love, played by Yoon Eun Hye. The scenes are sad and yet funny at the same time because the character can't sing, when any JYJ fan knows that in real life, Yoochun has a great voice. He's pretty comical when he pretends he is tone deaf.

Fellow JYJ member Kim Jae Joong also has a karaoke scene in "Protect The Boss," winning a karaoke battle with actress Wang Ji Hye. In this scene, Wang is being funny, hamming it up to a Baek Ji Young song. But Jaejoong can really sing and he aces a song by Sung Shi Kyung to win their battle.

One of the funniest kdrama karaoke scenes takes place in "The Greatest Love," when Cha Seung Won sings G-Dragon's "Heartbreaker." His over-enthusiastic performance makes the song seem comical and impresses co-star Gong Hyo Jin.

Karaoke can also be a great way to impress your prospective kdrama family. In "My Lovely Kim Sam Soon," Hyun Bin sings his way into the hearts of Kim Sam Soon's family after they get him drunk. Although they are not too fond of him in the beginning, her mother and sister decide they like a man who has no qualms about getting silly.

Another karaoke scene takes place in "Dream High" when Jason needs to de-stress after a strenuous day of being told how to sing at Kirin High School. He asks Pil Sook to go along and while it's not officially a date, they do sing about love together and grow closer. This scene features a 2PM song.

In "Lie To Me," singing karaoke together also helps Kang Ji Hwan understand his feelings for co-star Yoon Eun Hye. Her character is pretending to be engaged to Kang. At a party, they perform a duet of a silly bubblegum song and he realizes how much he really likes her.

And finally, a karaoke scene can be a good if impersonal way to say goodbye to another kdrama character. In "You're Beautiful," Park Shin Hye records a goodbye song to Jang Geun Suk that she then uploads to his band's site. The song is meant to let him know that she is doing well but it also implies that they never need to meet again. When he realizes where she might be recording the song, he rushes off to find her.
