Singer BoA was nervous about taking on a role in the two-episode romantic comedy "Expect Dating" but so far the feedback has been very rewarding.

Although she starred in the Hollywood dance movie, "Make Your Move 3D," the comedy was the 26-year-old singer's first small screen role

"I have been a singer for over a decade but this is my first time acting in Korea," said BoA.

Le Eun Jin, the comedy's producer, admitted that BoA was not his first choice for the role and casting her was a difficult decision to make.

"When she did her first script reading, I thought that it might not work out," he said. But the second time he met her, he was impressed by her objectivity. Then during the filming he was impressed by her effort.

She met with Lee every day to discuss her role and was pleased when he gave her a passing grade.

"I think BoA deserves a score of 75 out of 100," said Lee Eun Jin. "While that means there is room for improvement, it does not mean she did poorly.  It was a good first effort and I want to thank her for focusing so enthusiastically on her work."

Just in case you think the director is used to grading his actors generously, he only gave BoA's co-star Daniel Choi 90 out of 100 and Choi is a successful actor who has appeared in several dramas, including "The Musical," "School 2013" and "Phantom."

BoA hopes that her acting efforts convince her fans to respond to her character and not her previous image.

"I am already known as both a singer and a television show judge," said BoA. "After the drama finishes airing, I hope to hear that viewers saw me as my character, Joo Yeon Ae, and not as myself."

Joo Yoon Ae is a character that is unlucky at love, so she signs up online to get some expert dating advice. Daniel Choi plays Cha Gi Dae, the pick-up expert dispensing the advice, and ZE:A's Siwan plays a possible boyfriend, Jung Jin Gook.

The singer admits that in real life, she has not had a lot of experience at dating. While she might benefit from a few expert tips, she would probably not fall for a dating expert.

"I haven't really dated a lot and I'm not good at playing the dating game," said BoA. "Dating an expert like Cha might be a little overwhelming. I might prefer a man with less experience."

The KBS show runs on Sept. 11 and 12.
