Hollywood actress Pamela Anderson recently announced on Instagram that she is now completely free of Hepatitis C after struggling with the virus for16 long years.

"I am CURED!!!," she said in the caption, along with a number of hashtags, reported TechTimes.

"I pray anyone living with Hep C can qualify or afford treatment. It will be more available soon. I know treatment is hard to get still...#dontlosehope #itworkedforme #thereisacure."

Alongside the message, Anderson posted a photo of herself naked in a speed boat. In the image, she laughs and throws her head back while strategically covering her breasts with her hands.

The former "Baywatch" star was diagnosed with Hepatitis C in 2002 after she shared a tattoo needle with her then-husband Tommy Lee.

In August, the 48-year-old actress told People that she was prescribed a new FDA-approved drug regimen that could cure her of the ailment in a matter of weeks.

"I am almost half way through and by November 1, I should be cured - a 98 percent chance," she said.

Anderson shared that the disease was like a death sentence for her and regardless of how confident she looked on the outside, the disease was a dark cloud that hanged above her, according to EOnline.

"16 years ago that was (presented to me) as a death sentence. I think it really worked on my self-esteem. Even though I may have looked confident on the outside, I think it really was a dark cloud that lingered over me," she revealed.

Before trying out the new treatment plan, Anderson had experimented with other alternative medicines. Details of the treatment regimen including its total cost remain undisclosed.

Hepatitis C is a blood-borne virus that causes inflammation of the liver. It is now estimated that around 150-200 million people worldwide are infected with the liver disease caused by the virus.
