“It’s okay baby,” says Lee Min Ho in the first teaser trailer for the highly anticipated drama “The Heirs.”
It’s a phrase he must have picked up while filming in California with Park Shin Hye.
The trailer, which does not disappoint, shows scenes of sunny California landscapes and several of the cast members in the roles they will play in the upcoming drama.
Lee Min Ho is described as the heir of a chaebol corporation and Park Shin Hye as inheriting nothing more than poverty. Kim Woo Bin is described as a real estate heir, while Kim Ji Won is called an heir to management. Park Hyung Sik of ZE:A is called an honorable heir, while Jung Soo Jung, also known as f(x)’s Krystal, is an heiress to a stock fortune. Kang Min Hyuk is an intellectual property heir.
Some netizens worried that Lee Min Ho’s role in this drama would be reprisal of his Gun Jun Pyo role in the hit drama “Boys Over Flowers” and he would just be playing another spoiled rich kid in love with a poor girl. But even from the trailer you can see that his “The Heirs” character is much more complex. Despite his wealthy background and sophisticated life, Gun Jun Pyo was really simple. Although he is also described as arrogant and self-centered the character, Kim Tan is much more complicated, says Lee Min Ho.
"He thinks a lot," said Lee Min Ho. "What he thinks about makes him unhappy and at the same time more mature."
Most of the main characters in the "Gossip Girl" style drama are the high-school-age heirs of wealthy and powerful families. Park Shin Hye, who was last seen in "Flower Boys Next Door," plays Eun Sang, the daughter of a deaf housekeeper, who winds up becoming friends with these heirs.
"The Heirs" is one of the year's most anticipated dramas because of its stars and the fact that writer Kim Eun Sook was responsible for the hit dramas, "Secret Garden," "Lovers in Paris" and "A Gentleman's Dignity."
“The Heirs” also stars Choi Jin Hyuk, who was recently seen as the mountain spirit Wol Ryung in the hit drama "Gu Family Book" as Lee Min Ho's older brother. The cast also includes Choi Won Young and Kang Ha Neul.
Choi Won Young last appeared in "Dating Agency: Cyrano," and Kang Na Heul appeared in "Two Weeks," "Monstar," and "To The Beautiful You."
The drama will begin Oct. 9.
