Veteran American actor David Canary, who is best known for playing twin brothers Adam and Stuart Chandler on the show "All My Children," passed away on November 16 in Connecticut. He was 77. He died of natural causes, as reported by the obituary posted by Bouton Funeral Home on Tuesday.

The actor was survived by his wife Maureen, son Christopher, daughter Kathryn, his grandchildren and a brother.

Canary played both good and evil twin brothers Stuart and Adam Chandler for around 30 years. He had been nominated 16 times and had won 5 daytime Emmy Awards for the show for being the Outstanding Lead Actor.

Canary took retirement from full-time acting in the year 2010, briefly returning for the show's finale in 2011. "My career on "All My Children" has given me more than words could ever covey, both professionally and personally," Canary told Akron Beacon Journal on his retirement. "I have cherished each and every moment. I would like to thank all the fans who have tuned in throughout the years. Their love and support has meant the world to me," he added, reported VULTURE.

Born on August 25, 1938 in Elwood, Indiana, Canary grew up in Massillon, Ohio. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati, with a major in music. He also played football which earned him a scholarship to the university. Later, Canary moved to New York to pursue his career in acting.

Canary did regional theater and summer stock as a beginner before making his debut at Broadway with "Great Day in the Morning." Then he served US Army for two years followed by moving to Los Angeles looking for acting job in television and film.

Canary starred in the movies "Hombre" and "The St. Valentine's Day Massacre." Later, he turned to stage shows and television where he starred in "Peyton Place," "Gunsmoke," "Bonanza" and "Another World" before joining the cast of show "All My Children," according to CNN.
