Creation of Characters in "Answer Me 1994"

In "Answer Me 1994," a second season of tvN's "Answer Me 1997," characters show off their distinctive regional dialects.

"Answer Me 1994" is a drama about students from the south who all live together in a boarding house in Shin Chon, Seoul. Compared with "Answer Me 1997," there are more characters who are not from Seoul.

Go Ah Ra plays Sung Na Jung, from Ma San, Kyungsangnamdo, a fangirl of a basketball star Lee Sang Min. Out of seven main characters, only one, Chil Bong Yi (Yu Yeon Suk), a baseball player, is from Seoul.

The secret of creating characters of various regional backgrounds, according to Shin Won Ho PD, comes from the writers of the drama. Shin Won Ho PD said, "We have long prepared the distinctive dialects each character has, and their habits about people from the regions. This was made possible by our team of writers, more than half of them are from regions outside of Seoul, such as Junrado, Kyungsangdo, and ChoongChungdo.

First episode of "Answer Me 1994" airs on October 18.
