MBC "Welcome" Abolished? Originally Only 5 Episodes

MBC revealed its stance on abolition of TV show "Welcome."

An MBC official on October 28, 2013, said, "The show was originally planned to air only five episodes, which makes it difficult to call the end of the show an 'abolition'."

The official added, "The show was originally a Thanksgiving pilot program. Since it garnered a lot of attention, the team decided to travel to another country in addition to Turkey, which made it five episodes long. The program is not being abolished due to bad ratings. The last episode is to be aired on November 8 as planned."

The official said there is no plan for the program to come after the finale of "Welcome." The official said, "The program will still financially support the scholars to study in Korea. The scholar from Turkey is already studying Korean in Korea, and the one from Thailand is starting soon."

"Welcome" is a program that invites college students who study Korean abroad to Korea, teaching them Korean language and culture.
