Michigan Double Tragedy: Brother Killed in Car Accident Trying to Check on Sister Who Shot Herself (Photos)
A mother from Detroit, Michigan is set to bury her two children, who died on the same night in a separate incident. The mother of dead siblings had also just buried her husband six months ago.
Rose Tucker faces double funeral when her children, Brenda, 21 and Ricky, 20 died on the same day in Detroit, Michigan. Ricky died when he was rushing to St. John Hospital to check on his sister, Brenda who shot herself at the back of the family-owned bar in Michigan.
Speaking to Detroit News, the victims’ uncle, Eddie Falbo described the elder Tucker as suffering from depression. Recalling the incident, he noted Brenda grabbing a gun from the bar and taking her own life, Sunday, Oct. 27 betwee 1 and 2 am.
“She grabbed a gun, and I took it away from her head,” Falbo said, according to Detroit News. “Others were talking to her. I came out the door and heard, ‘pop.’ It was terrible. There were about 8 to 10 people in the bar; everyone heard it.”
Brenda was then rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead. Hoping to check on his sister, Ricky then drove to the nearby hospital where his sister was taken one hour later. Unfortunately, he did not make it to the hospital alive.
According to police reports, Ricky’s car collided with a Chevrolet Suburban on East Warren near Woodhall and was instantly killed. Falbo said that the SUV driver suffered minor injuries.
“So my nephew was going to look after his sister, and he ends up getting killed, too,” Falbo noted, said Detroit News. “This is a close family; this is a tough one.”
And this is indeed tough especially for Rose, the mother of the victims. Rose apparently has lost three members of her family. Six months ago, the 43-year old mom lost her husband and stepdad of Brenda and Ricky.
It was Ricky who caused death of his stepfather when he accidentally shot him in self defense. Police did not charge him because it was clear that the stepfather was shooting at the 20-year old Ricky.
“The boy — the one who just died — killed his step-dad; they were shooting back and forth, and he killed him in self-defense. The police let him right out of jail, because (his step-father) was shooting at him.
“Three people in one family killed in six months,” Falbo added, said Detroit News. “These kids’ mother is going through hell.”
