What The Writers Thought About "Hotel Del Luna's" Ending?

Many viewers got confused because they interpreted this drama will have a sad ending. Hong Mi Ran said, "Jang Man Wol and Goo Chan Sung met knowing that Man Wol would eventually have to leave and that Chan Sung's goal was to eventually send her off. Their relationship is that much sadder because they grew to love one another, even though they met with their parting in mind. Since we needed CGI effects for the scenes with the bridge and hotel, the script for the finale had already come out a month prior."

Hong Jung Eun said that Del Luna's mission is to be a resting place for ghosts before they journey to the afterlife. The fated ending should be the departure of Man Wol. She is seen off by Goo Chan Sung. Many netizens hoped that the two would end up together because they have great chemistry. 

Still, they knew the fact that Man Wol have to leave in the end. Jang Man Wol is already dead while Goo Chan Sung is alive. This made it impossible for things to work out unless unnecessarily forced.

Hong Jung Eun explained why Kim Seon Bi, Choi Seo Hee, and Ji Hyun Joong were glad to cross the bridge. She said that they are happy to let go of all the pain and sadness of this life to move on to the afterlife. Jang Man Wol crossing the bridge was the most suitable conclusion for this drama. 

Chan Sung wished that the ghosts will be reborn so they can experience love again. Hong Mi Ran said that the ending was still happy because Jang Man Wol's final farewell concludes well.

The writers said that they don't have concrete plans for the second season. They are not closing doors for the possibility of season two. "Hotel Del Luna" has a female owner and they thought to switch to a male owner.

Hong Mi Ran said that IU and Yeo Jin Goo did perform great, despite their young age. They both expressed the right emotions for their characters. They are both kind-hearted people and that is why they created good chemistry.

The Hong Sisters revealed that they did not think of IU while writing the script. After a while, all of them decided that she was the perfect fit for the role.

The sisters also had endless praise for Yeo Jin Goo, with Hong Jung Eun stating, "Yeo Jin Goo's image in itself matches Goo Chan Sung. Since he had recently concluded a drama, we were unsure he would be available but were so happy when he agreed. IU, who was cast first, was also very happy, and we thought that the drama was already halfway to success with the combination of IU and Yeo Jin Goo. Although Yeo Jin Goo may still have the image of a child actor, we were completely surprised at his ability to break out of that and act so emotionally."

The writers also praised Yeo Jin Goo. Hong Jung Eun said that he is the perfect match for Goo Chan Sung. They thought he would not be available because he just concluded a drama. They were all very happy including IU when he agreed to it. 

They were amazed by his great acting skills and thought the drama will be successful. They all agreed for a vacation on September 4 as a reward for "Hotel Del Luna's" big success.
