Goodbye is Not Forever in "Hi Bye, Mama" Episode 8 Recap

Cha Yu Ri's (Kim Tae Hee) parents and friends had a hard time letting her go when she died. Let's go down the characters' memory lane and bring you back to their grieving and lonely phase in the Episode 8 recap of "Hi Bye, Mama."

"Hi Bye, Mama" does not only talk about a mother's love. In this episode, the directors capture more stories about family, letting go and acceptance.

The inadvertent meeting of Jo Kang Hwa (Lee Kyu Hyung) with Jang Pil-Seung (Lee Si-woo), Cha Yu Ri and Oh Min Jung (Go Bo Gyeol) took a hilarious turn. Cha Yu Ri ran away from Oh Min Jung while Jang Pil-Seung followed her, leaving Jo Kang Hwa and Oh Min Jung together in one umbrella. They discussed and agreed to hire Cha Yu Ri as the pick up helper for Jo Seo Woo (Seo Woo-jin).

After work, Jo Kang Hwa went to see Ko Hyun Jung (Shin Dong-mi) and Kye Keun Sang (Oh Eui-Sik). He looked so confused about what to do with Cha Yu Ri as his child's pick-up helper. Kye Keun Sang told his wife to contact Cha Yu Ri and asked her not to proceed with her plan, but Ko Hyun Jung told the two men that Cha Yu Ri wanted to look after Seo Woo. Jo Kang Hwa just kept quiet and took a sigh of frustration.

Ever since Cha Yu Ri came back to life, she has been anonymously bringing medicines to her mother and father. She leaves the bag outside the gate, leaving her mother in deep thought who would know all the medicines they needed.

In the crematorium house, the daughter of the ghost Kim Pan Seok (Lee Dae Yeon) visited him. He was very happy to know that his daughter is finally getting married. For the longest time, he shared with his friends that he worked so hard for his daughters. He wanted them to marry young and have a good life.

However, Kim Pan Seok was saddened that he won't be there physically to witness it. He noticed that his daughter looked sad as she went out of the building. He followed his daughter where she works and they arrived at the nursery where Cha Yu Ri is also working. Kim Pan Seok's daughter is one of the teachers in the school. He has shared with Cha Yu Ri that he still misses the time with his family. It makes him sad and happy at the same time.

Before the wedding day, Kim Pan Seok asked for a favor from Cha Yu Ri. When his daughter arrived at the crematorium to say goodbye to his father, a letter was put in the glass. In the letter, Kim Pan Seok expressed how happy he is for her wedding and told her daughter not to be sad. He may not present on her wedding day but she will always be in his memory.

On the big day of Kim Pan Seok's daughter, everyone applauded as the bride walked alone on the aisle. People at the back talked how good of a father Kim Pan Seok was for he raised his daughter as a responsible woman.

At the time of Cha Yu Ri's death, her parents were heartbroken and had a hard time coping with their grief. Jeon Eun Sook (Kim Mi Kyung) advised her husband to stay away from Jo Seo Woo. But when she opened her husband's phone, a picture of Jo Seo Woo flashed. Jeon Eun Sook cried hard and fell down, longing for Cha Yu Ri's presence.

In another scene, Ko Hyun Jung and Cha Yu Ri were in the middle of the street comforting each other. Ko Hyun Jung wants Cha Yu Ri to be with her family but she doesn't want to. Jeon Eun Sook then left the house with a heavy heart. She wanted to get a fresh air and ride her bike. She passed by Ko Hyun Jung and Cha Yu Ri, which led her to crash the bike and fall down. She was in shock as Cha Yu Ri looked at her mother's face.
