Although she had mentally prepared for the loss, the reality of the funeral hit hard the following morning. It was at this difficult moment that Suzy showed up and remained by her side for the entirety of the three-day funeral.
"She came to pay her respects and stayed all three days," Jo Hyunah said. She also described a humble, relatable side of Suzy during the event that she even recalled Suzy sitting in one spot, eating dried squid for three days straight, brushing off attention from others who recognized her by simply asking for more food.
Suzy's support went beyond just being physically present. Jo Hyunah revealed that Suzy accompanied her through every stage of the funeral—from the cremation ceremony to the burial site. At the graveside, where emotions often make speech difficult, Suzy spoke up with confidence and reassurance.
Jo Hyunah shared what Suzy said at the burial, "'Mother, don't worry. I'll take good care of your daughter.' She said it with so much confidence and conviction, too, I was so grateful," as per xportsnews.
This personal story caught the attention of host Shin Dong Yup, who has worked with Suzy as MC for the Baeksang Arts Awards. He was surprised by the sincerity shown by Suzy, since these types of acts of support are quite unusual nowadays, particularly considering the public image of someone like Suzy.
According to Shin Dong Yup, "Anyone who's lost a parent knows how much that kind of support means," he said, emphasizing just how impactful her actions must have been, highlighting once again the significant importance of such a deed made by Suzy.
