Set in a 24-hour convenience store, run by Choi Dae Hyun (Ji Chang Wook), "Backstreet Rookie" includes themes of friendship, comedy, and romance. The drama tells a story of Jung Saet Byul, portrayed by Kim Yoo Jung, who works in the convenience store, taking the night shift. She has a unique personality and seems to be the savior of the convenience store one day.
Jung Saet Byul has three best friends, namely Hwang Geum Bi and Cha Eun Jo, portrayed by Seo Ye Hwa and Yoon Soo, respectively. The three friends have had a strong bond since they were still in high school and up until now. Because of their solid friendship, they were given the name "Three Musketeers of Balgwang Girls' High School."
