Song Joong Ki To Step Down From His Role in Biopic “Season of You and Me”
Song Jong Ki announced that he will be stepping down as one of the main cast in the upcoming film "Season of You and Me."
According to his agency History D&C's statement on June 5, the actor will drop out of the movie due to conflicting schedules brought by the pandemic.
A representative from the agency stated, "Song Joong Ki will not be appearing in 'Season of You and Me.' Due to this unavoidable situation, he is currently adjusting his schedule for the second half of the year. Nothing has yet been confirmed."
The representative added that Soon Joong Ki is planning to focus on promoting his movie "Space Sweepers" that has already been scheduled, which is set to be released this summer.
"Space Sweepers" is set in the year 2092, where the crew of space ship, named Victory, including Captain Jang (portrayed by Kim Tae Ri), Pilot Tae Ho (Song Joong Ki), Robot Eobdong (Yu Hae Jin), Tiger Park (Jin Seon Kyu), travels through space collecting junk so they can make a living. But they soon got involved in a dangerous business deal when they accidentally came across a humanoid robot, Dorothy, a weapon of mass destruction.

Because of the pandemic, another upcoming film of Song Joong Ki, "Bogota," prompted to stop shooting back in March. Their film production in Colombia stopped due to COVID-19. And most likely, as the producers have announced, they will continue filming next year.
"Bogota" is a crime thriller film about the story of young men in their thirties who left Korea and immigrated to Colombia in the 1990s. They settled in the market of Bogota, which is the capital city of the country.
Since the filming of "Bogota" was put on hold, Song Joong Ki's supposed-to-be another upcoming film, "Season of You and Me," would have started filming in May. It depicts the lives of two late singer-songwriters Yoo Jae Ha and Kim Hyun Sik.
Song Joong Ki was supposed to play the role of Yoo Jae Ha, Jin Seon Kyu as Kim Hyun Sik, and Kim Hye Jun as Yoo Jae Ha's first love. He was supposed to start filming in May after doing "Bogota."
Director Jung Da-Won will helm the film. He also directed the movies "Garak Market Revolution" and "Miss & Mrs. Cops."
It would have been nice to see Song Jong Ki in this biopic as a singer-songwriter.
The production team has not yet found someone to replace Song Jong Ki for the main cast.
