On April 7, 2026 (KST), the cast and crew of the TVING original series got together for a press conference to talk about the show's long-awaited return after a four-year break. Kim plays Yumi again, which is her third time playing the character that fans love.

Kim said that to get ready for the role, she went back and watched earlier seasons to get back into it. "I rewatched Seasons 1 and 2 before filming. After that, I started shooting."

She also talked about how she acted and how much she liked the character's jokes. "Honestly, I have a strong 'comedy cell' in me. I enjoy making people laugh. Yumi has a lot of comedic elements, so it was really fun to act. The director laughed loudly, and if I couldn't hear him laughing from behind the monitor, I'd actually feel a bit disappointed."

People are talking about the new season because of the romance between Kim and her co-star Kim Jae Won, who is 10 years younger than her. Fans talked about their on-screen chemistry after the casting.

Kim talked openly about how she dealt with the age difference and what she did to close the gap between generations. She said, "I went to the dermatologist diligently and even learned some Gen Z slang," which made people laugh.

Thereafter, she explained how their relationship felt while they were filming. "Jae Won is quite mature for his age, so I didn't really feel like there was a 10-year gap."

Kim Jae Won said it was easy to work with them, despite their age difference. He said, "Sometimes younger colleagues can actually feel more difficult to approach, but I didn't feel the age difference at all."

He talked more about what he thought of Kim both on and off set. "It wasn't intimidating or hard to approach her in any way. She was a kind, pretty noona who would treat me to meals. But once filming started, her gaze would completely change... She was very professional."

Reports from Xportsnews also said that both actors were professional and respectful of each other, which helped make the age difference seem less obvious during filming.

On April 13, the first episode of "Yumi's Cells Season 3" will air. Thereafter, two episodes will air every Monday at 6 p.m. on TVING. Every Monday and Tuesday at 8:50 p.m., one episode of the series will also air on tvN.
