These Korean Dramas Got Extended Due To Massive Popularity [Updated 2022]
We previously featured the Korean shows that unfortunately got cut short due to low ratings. Now, we present the list of K-dramas that got extended for being so good and widely famous that the viewers couldn't stop watching them.
The popularity of a particular Korean drama is always unpredictable. You'll never know if the storyline is good or not unless the drama officially broadcasts. There are many instances that a series has overreached its expected goals that it has come to a point where more episodes were added due to their grand popularity.
We listed some Korean dramas that were really, really good that they were able to have extensions.
I Can Hear Your Voice
Initially, "I Can Hear Your Voice" was slated to have only 16 episodes, but it was extended for two more episodes, making it 18 episodes in total.

The storyline was so compelling that the viewers couldn't stop watching it. When the show neared its conclusion, it garnered ratings that exceeded 20%, which is considered a very high score for a Korean drama on a public network.
Another Miss Oh
One of the most popular cable network Korean dramas of all time is "Another Miss Oh." It also gained a lot of viewers as it has made the producers decide to extend two more episodes.
"Another Miss Oh" was able to achieve the ratings that went over 7% plenty of times, which is good for a cable K-Drama.
Yong Pal
Yong Pal had all-star cast members, that was why this drama was considered one of the most anticipated dramas in 2015.
As expected, the show exceeded the producers' high expectations, and it was achieving super high ratings of nearly 20% every episode. Due to the soaring ratings, the show was extended for two more episodes.
Penthouse
The list wouldn't be complete without the megahit "makjang" K-drama "Penthouse."

The K-drama was so good and the actors delivered top-notch performances that it received various awards and nominations. Lead actress even bagged the Best Actress trophy from the 57th Baeksang Arts Awards!
The Last Empress
The drama "The Last Empress" was originally planned to broadcast 48 episodes and was extended for four more episodes. It steadily garnered 10% ratings, which is quite high for a cable network K-drama.
Missing You
"Missing You" was first planned to be airing 20 episodes, but it extended to one more episode since it has an intense story and it was famous during its airing. The show was consistent in getting a rating score of more than 10%, so it wasn't so surprising!
The Red Sleeve Cuff
Starring Lee Junho (2PM) and Lee Se Young, "The Red Sleeve Cuff" was mega-popular during its run from December 2021 to January 2022 that it was extended to one more episode.
The K-drama was also able to surpass the 10% ratings mark, prompting the idol-actor to fulfill his promise to fans that he would dance to 2PM's hit "My House" once the drama reaches double-digit ratings - and he did so while clad in his King robe!

"Mother of Mine" was planned to broadcast a long 100 episodes. However, it was extended, adding 8 more episodes, since the viewers liked it so much. This show was so consistent that it always got ratings that exceeded 30%, which is also a very high score for a public network K-drama.
My Only One
This show was also slated for a 100-episode drama, but it was extended to six more episodes. It proved its popularity by exceeding 40% in viewership ratings at times. And its finale episode even got a high score rating of almost 50%!
