Kang Ha Neul and Son Ye Jin in Talks to be Paired in New Historical Drama
This could be the hottest topic right now! The leading lady of the hit series "Crash Landing on You," actress Son Ye Jin is in talks to be gracing our small screens with an all new historical drama alongside leading man of "When The Camellia Blooms", Kang Ha Neul.
The said new drama is reportedly titled "Cut by The Heart" and it will tell an unfortunate love story of the Princess Pyeonggang and Pabo Ondal, both characters are known from a classic Korean folktale. The said tale goes like this, Princess Pyeonggang is the eldest daughter of King Pyeongwon of Goguryeo Kingdom. While growing up, she was considered weak as she would always tend to cry all the time.
Whenever she cries, her father would always tell her that he would marry her off to the "village fool" named Ondal if she wouldn't stop her crying.
As times passes by, Princess Pyeonggang was old enough to get married. The King planned to set her up with another man, however, the Princess opposes to the said set up and scolds her father that he should keep his promise and make her marry Ondal.
But Ondal is believed to possess an ugly appearance and was a poor man so the King was against the idea of her daughter marrying Ondal. Moreover, Princess Pyeonggang still chose to follow her heart and goes on a quest in finding Ondal. She succeeded and finds him living in a hut in the mountains with his old mother.
Eventually, they both fell in love and got married and lived a happy life together. The Princess did her best to help Ondal develop his skills in horsemanship and archery. Finally, Ondal made his name known as the best hunter which impressed the King and ends up appointing him as a general.
Moving forward, MS Team Entertainment, Son Ye Jin's agency did confirm that the role of Princess Pyeonggang was indeed offered to the actress, however, as of the moment nothing has been decided yet. If ever the actress accepts the said offer, then this will be considered as Son Ye-jin's fourth role in a sageuk (historical/period genre).
On the other hand, TH Company which is actor Kang Ha Neul's agency also revealed that the actor received the offer for the role of Ondal and he is still in the process of reviewing the offer.
Since the new pairing has yet to accept the historical drama offer, both Son Ye Jin and Kang Ha Neul still have confirmed projects their fans can look forward to in the meantime.
Son Ye Jin will soon make her Hollywood debut through the film "Cross" which she will star alongside Australian actor Sam Worthington.
Next year (2021) actor Kang Ha Neul has been confirmed to star in the sequel of the 2014 film titled "The Pirates".
