ASTRO Cha Eun Woo Reveals New Sides of His Character in The Upcoming Drama ‘True Beauty’
tVN's upcoming webtoon series titled "True Beauty" starring ASTRO's Cha Eun Woo, Moon Ga Young, and Hwang In Yeop is set to air on Wednesday, Dec. 9 at 10:30 pm (KST). Weeks before the pilot episode, fans are already excited to see Cha Eun Woo on screen again.
"True Beauty" is a romantic-comedy drama about two students with hidden stories. They later learn to overcome their insecurities, and find comfort from each other. Together, they restore their self-esteem through sharing their secrets and past experiences with one another. Lim Ju Gyeong will be played by Moon Ga Young, a student who uses makeup to hide her bare face and is battling insecurities about her looks. Hwang In Yeob, on the other hand, will be playing Han Seo Jun, a rebellious student but has a soft and warm personality on the inside.
Meanwhile, Cha Eun Woo will play the character of Lee Su Ho, a versatile student who is almost a definition of being a perfect student. In line with his role, the actor/singer shares that some of Lee Su Ho's characteristics are identical to his which made him more interested with the role.
Even before the casting happened, Cha Eun Woo said that his Astro members told him that a webtoon character resembles him. That was the first time he got to know Su Ho. He then revealed that aside from their similar personalities, their almost identical looks also made him pursure Su Ho's role in "True Beauty." "Like Suho, I have a lot of interest in fashion, and I also love doing workouts. But I think we're completely different in the way that Su Ho is a very straightforward person who says cold things, and he is a person who strongly builds up a wall between him and others," the actor said.
"Later on, I met with the director and the writer of the drama repeatedly to read the script, and my affection for the character grew. It's also exciting since it's a fun and bright school story," he added.
Cha Eun Woo also explained that Lee Su Ho's charm is a reverse beauty "He seems cold on the outside, but has a warm heart on the inside. He's definitely a character with a twisted charm. Also, Lee Su Ho's role has is unique compared with the characters I used to play. As a student, I think I will be able to show a new image."
The True Beauty star also said, "To have a better understanding of Su Ho's character, the director advised me to think about what he went through 30 minutes before playing the role." He also shared that he is practicing Jiu-Jitsu and basketball, since Su Ho is skilled in sports.
